There are also some achievements to unlock cats for your home. Minis don't do anything they're just small and follow you around (they're cute) and there's a lot of animal/creature mini's to collect (ranging from super cheap, to really expensive, and some are locked behind achievements) There are over 700 Minis currently and I think Most of them are animals/creatures (there are also humanoid minis). (I personally haven't really played much as a Ranger so I don't know much about the pet system) There seem to be around 55 pets to collect. It has one race called the Charr they're kinda cat-like (feline?) and if you choose a Ranger as profession you can also tame animals/creatures in the world to become your pet (your pet will fight with you). I would recommend you to just try it out and see if you like it. GW2 the base game is Free2Play with some restrictions.
